Centre-back has gone backwards over the last 18 months

Around two years ago, there was a major clamour among England fans for Gareth Southgate to make Fikayo Tomori a regular starter in the Three Lions defence as the centre-back was one of the most consistent defenders in the Serie A at the time.

However, the Chelsea academy graduate has gone backwards since then, and this season has been an extremely challenging one for the 27-year-old, who has struggled to get into the Milan starting eleven.

It has now emerged that the pacy defender is now considering his future at the San Siro, with a host of clubs ready to offer him an exit route.

Tottenham could jump at the chance to sign Fikayo Tomori

This update comes from TBR Football, who say that Spurs are one of the clubs ready to offer the centre-back a route back into the Premier League.

The report claims that Ange Postecoglou is a fan of the Englishman and sees him as a player who would significantly bolster his options in defence.

Tottenham are thought to be facing competition from the likes of Newcastle United, Brentford, Brighton and West Ham, who are all admirers of the former Chelsea man.

Additionally, Tomori is also said to be on the radars of Serie A giants, Napoli and Juventus, who have both asked to be kept informed of his situation.

One potential roadblock to Tomori deal

TBR Football point out that the central defender is keen to get back to playing regularly as he is desperate to work his way back into the England set-up under Thomas Tuchel.

That is given as the defender’s main motivation in seeking a January move away from the Rossoneri.

However, it is pointed out that Milan have made a managerial change recently, with Sergio Conceicao taking over, and the player’s fortunes could thus change over the coming weeks.
