Spurs fans have seen several gifted Croatian players grace the pitch at White Hart Lane in their recent history, with Luka Modric, Vedran Corluka and Niko Kranjcar being a crucial part of the club’s evolution under Harry Redknapp.
The Tottenham supporters would be hoping that Vuskovic can follow in their footsteps, especially given how impressive the 17-year-old has been on loan at Westerlo this season.
The teenager is posting some incredible numbers this season, with the stats showing that no other centre-back in the Belgian top-flight is contributing as much in attack as the on-loan Spurs man.
Vuskovic speaks about his Tottenham future
Even though Vuskovic is owned by Spurs, he has not been at the club yet, with the rules only permitting him to link up with the Premier League side when he turns 18.
The defender will thus arrive at the club for the first time next summer and it remains to be seen if he goes straight into the first-team setup.
When asked about what is in store for him at Spurs, the teenager has now told Sportske Novosti: “I hope to be ready for Tottenham in the summer. They haven’t told me the exact plan for the new season yet. They just told me to focus on each upcoming match, which I am doing.”
When asked about his future ambitions, Vuskovic declared: “To play for the Croatian senior national team and Tottenham.”
Vuskovic might need another loan move
As impressive as Vuskovic has been at Westerlo, it might not be ideal for his development to simply warm the bench at Tottenham next season.
He needs to be playing regularly at this stage of his career and Spurs may even consider loaning him out to a Championship side so that he can get used to the physicality and intensity of English football.
