Jose Mourinho eyeing reunion with player he signed for Tottenham
Jose Mourinho is reportedly trying to take one Tottenham Hotspur player to Fenerbahce, with the Turkish club already having opened talks with Spurs over a deal.
Sergio Reguilon’s Spurs contract set to be terminated
Sergio Reguilon has not made any of Tottenham‘s matchday squads this season and an exit from North London looks inevitable for the left-back.
It was reported a few days ago by CaughtOffside that the Spaniard wants to terminate the six months left in his deal and leave on a free transfer in January.
The report claimed that Spurs are willing to grant the defender his wishes as they want to get his salary off their wage bill.
A reunion with Jose Mourinho could be on the cards
According to a report in Sabah, Fenerbahce have now begun talks over a potential deal to take Reguilon to Istanbul.
Mourinho, the man who brought the full-back to Spurs from Real Madrid in 2020, allegedly wants to reunite with the player at his current club.
The outlet claims that the 27-year-old had a chance to move to Turkey back in the summer as Besiktas came calling for him, but he rejected the offer at the time.
It remains to be seen if the Tottenham man will be more open to the idea of making a move to the Super Lig to link up with his former boss.
Will Mourinho be enough of a pull for Reguilon?
Mourinho’s presence at Fenerbahce may not be enough of a pull for Reguilon, particularly given that the Portuguese coach’s future at the club is reportedly in doubt.
It was claimed by TBR Football earlier this week that the special one is eyeing a return to the Premier League in 2025, with West Ham, Everton and Newcastle showing interest in making him their new manager.
With Reguilon thought to be attracting interest from Spain (Ficherio), he might be leaning towards a return to La Liga.
