Ange Postecoglou sees Spanish midfielder as ‘key piece’ of Spurs puzzle
Ange Postecoglou is now keen on bringing one La Liga attacker to Tottenham in January, with the Lilywhites reportedly ready to make an offer for the player.
Tottenham plotting move for Villarreal star
It has emerged that Tottenham are keen on adding reinforcements to their squad in January, and Ange Postecoglou has identified one player he likes.
The Lilywhites have reportedly turned their attention to Villarreal star Alex Baena, who has six goal contributions in 11 league matches so far this season.
The performances of the 23-year-old have reportedly caught Tottenham’s attention, with the North London club ready to make a move for the player.
Alex Baena seen as the missing piece of the puzzle
This update comes from Fichajes, who say that Postecoglou is a fan of Baena’s ability to ‘distribute play and create attacking options’.
The versatile attacking midfielder, who can also play on either flank, is seen as a ‘key piece’ to solve the issues that Tottenham have had in midfield and attack.
Postecoglou believes that the Spain international will strengthen one of the weakest areas of the squad, with the North London club considering sending a ‘tempting offer’ to Villarreal in January.
Villarreal’s stance on Baena
The report says that Villarreal are aware that they have a gem on their hands, with Banea now becoming one of ‘the most attractive prospects in La Liga’.
The attacker is contracted until 2028 at El Madrigal and has a release clause of €60m (£50m).
The outlet adds that while the release clause is high, there could be room for negotiation between Spurs and Villarreal ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
