One stat will worry Ange Postecoglou despite thumping Tottenham win
While Tottenham have an excellent record at home under Ange Postecoglou, one stat will worry the Spurs head coach moving forward.
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is now a fortress
While there are still concerns about Spurs’ record away from home, there is no doubt that they are now an extremely formidable team at home.
They have won seven out of their eight matches at home across all competitions this season, with Aston Villa being the latest victims on Sunday, being blown away by the Lilywhites in the second half.
Even the one match they lost against Arsenal was an extremely tight affair, with the Gunners sitting back with ten men behind the ball all game, and getting their goal from a corner-kick.
One worrying home stat for Spurs
However, despite this formidable record at home, it has not been smooth sailing from the start in many of those Premier League matches.
In fact, in most of those games, Tottenham have only woken up after conceding a goal early in the game, which was the case once again against Villa.
According to Sky Sports, Spurs have conceded first in 12 of their 14 home games in the Premier League, which is something that might worry Postecoglou.
Tottenham’s bouncebackability is second to none
While the above stat might be worrying, Tottenham are also better at turning results around than any other side in the Premier League.
According to BBC Match of the Day 2, Spurs have won 24 points from losing positions across 2024, which is comfortably better than every other side in the division. Second on the list, Manchester City, have only won 14 points from losing positions.
The numbers suggest that even though Postecoglou’s men often tend to concede first, a 1-0 lead against Tottenham is almost never secure.
