Spurs struggle on their travels again

It was yet another disappointing away trip for Spurs, who never even looked like getting anything from the game at Selhurst Park.

The game was ultimately decided by a Jean-Philippe Mateta strike in the first half, coming off the back of a slip-up by Micky van de Ven at the edge of his own box.

But, Palace dominated before and after that goal, limiting Tottenham’s creative players effectively and shutting out Ange Postecoglou‘s men time and time again.

If anything, Palace could have scored another goal or two to really secure the win earlier on, but Guglielmo Vicario made a couple of good saves to deny them.

Vicario holds up his hands to Spurs fans

After the game, the Spurs keeper walked over to the Spurs fans in the away end at Selhurst Park along with a number of his teammates who calmly applauded their supporters.

But, Vicario offered a little more, raising his arms and rousing the fans as best as he could, before holding up his hands to the crowd as though apologising for the poor performance.

Some of the supporters appear to be booing the players at first, but the reception does turn more positive after Vicario’s gesture.

No issues with Vicario today

Fair play to Vicario, he didn’t really do anything wrong today and can hold his head high. He made some good saves, commanded his area well, and distributed the ball effectively throughout. It’s nice to see him getting involved with the crowd here even on a bad day overall.
