Harry Redknapp predicts close score for Tottenham vs West Ham

Spurs return to Premier League action tomorrow with a London derby against West Ham, and according to Harry Redknapp, the game will be very close as two unpredictable teams go head-to-head.

Tottenham need a big reaction

Before the international break, the Tottenham players ended up on the wrong side of a 3-2 scoreline against Brighton at the Amex Stadium, in what Ange Postecoglou described as his ‘worst defeat’ at the club (ESPN).

That result left Spurs in ninth place in the Premier League table, with ten points from seven games after three wins, three defeats, and a draw.

In the two weeks that have passed, Postecoglou has had chance to stew on the result and the performance, and has admitted he is ready to ‘explode’ when the players are back from the international break (Optus Sport).

With the next game coming at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, in front of a home crowd, and against a rival, there’s no doubt the Spurs players will be expected to show a big improvement from last time out.

Redknapps predicts tight Spurs win

Speaking to BetVictor about the upcoming fixtures, former Tottenham and West Ham boss, Harry Redknapp, suggested we will see a tight game between the two sides, but he thinks the home side can come out on top.

He said: “This is a hard one to predict. For 45 minutes against Brighton, I thought Tottenham were terrific. The next 45 minutes, not so much. I don’t know what to expect from them here, but they need a big response.

“West Ham are showing signs of life under Julen Lopetegui, there’s a lot of very good players in this side. They need to start showing a bit more on the road though, starting here. There won’t be much in this one, but I’m leaning for a home win, 2-1.”

Redknapp also picked out Dominic Solanke as the man to watch on the day, saying, “[he] is really beginning to find his feet at Spurs, but he could do with some goals.”

Tottenham have to win, or things could turn ugly

While the majority of the fanbase are still firmly behind Ange Postecoglou, there is a feeling of unrest within a small but vocal minority. If the result, and the performance, are not right against West Ham we could see that minority grow in size and volume.
