Young defender showing maturity beyond his years

The player we are referring to is Luka Vuskovic, who is seen by many as one of the best young talents to emerge from Croatian football in recent years.

Tottenham secured his services last summer and have since then sent him out on loan to Poland and Belgium, with the 17-year-old defender really impressing for Westerlo in the Jupiler Pro League this season.

The teenager’s displays have excited many Spurs fans and The Guardian’s talent spotters have now waxed lyrical about his potential.

Luka Vuskovic backed to become world-class

The outlet describes Vuskovic as a ‘complete defender’ and someone who is ‘dominant’ at the back. They say that the teenager has ‘incredible potential’, which he is now showing at Westerlo.

Further, they reveal that talent spotter Jacek Kulig gave the Tottenham man a ‘very rare’ 10/10 potential rating on his Football Talent Scout blog.

Kulig is said to have mentioned that Vuskovic has ‘world-class potential’ and ‘no significant weaknesses’ in his game.

Too soon to get excited

When fans have a tendency to get excited about emerging talent, Vuskovic is still very young and centre-backs tend to mature later than forwards or midfielders.

It would be unfair to heap too much pressure on his young shoulders and Tottenham will want to ensure that he keeps getting regular football over the next two years before considering him as a first-team prospect.
