Tottenham receive good news on Real Madrid’s pursuit of Pedro Porro

Tottenham have been handed some good news by The Athletic regarding the future of Pedro Porro.

Real Madrid want Pedro Porro

There has been a lot of speculation over Porro’s future over recent weeks since CaughtOffside first broke the news that Real Madrid are eyeing the Tottenham man as the potential long-term heir to Dani Carvajal.

What will concern Spurs fans is that during the international break, the 24-year-old was asked about the rumours and he insisted that he is ‘proud’ to be linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu (Relevo).

Porro is not Madird’s top target

The Athletic have now revealed that while the Spurs man is on Los Blancos’ radar, their priority target remains Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The England international is the La Liga giants’ preferred option to take over from Carvajal and it is pointed out that he is free to talk to clubs from January as he will be down to the final six months of his deal at Anfield.

The outlet explains that should the Reds star be out of Real Madrid’s reach, only then would they turn their attention to one of Porro, Jeremie Frimpong or Juanlu.

Tottenham working to keep Porro

Meanwhile, it was reported by TBR Football this morning that Spurs are aware of Madrid’s growing interest in their right-back and are not surprised about the development.

Even though the former Sporting Lisbon man is contracted until 2028 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the publication claimed that the Lilywhites are set to begin work to tie down the defender to a new long-term deal.
