Tottenham identify two potential replacements for Pedro Porro
Tottenham have identified two potential right-backs to replace Pedro Porro if the Spaniard leaves N17, and interestingly, both of them play in Serie A.
Pedro Porro in the sights of Real Madrid
Pedro Porro has arguably been the best right-back on show so far this season in the Premier League, with the Spaniard building on his impressive performances from last term.
The 24-year-old’s displays have allegedly brought him to the attention of Real Madrid, who are thought to be intent on replacing Dani Carvajal with the Tottenham man (CaughtOffside).
Rather concerningly for Spurs, the right-back himself told Relevo last week that he is ‘proud’ to be linked with a move to Santiago Bernabeu.
Tottenham identify Porro replacements
According to InterLive, Spurs are now looking towards the Serie A for right-back options, amidst the interest in Porro.
In fact, the outlet claims that Ange Postecoglou’s men ‘will lose’ the former Sporting Lisbon man at the end of this season as he ‘feels ready to wear the Blancos shirt’.
As a result, the Premier League side could decide to make a move for Denzel Dumfries, who has been on their radar for a long time.
The publication adds that the North London club are also considering a move for fellow Serie A right-back, Raoul Bellanova, who currently plays for Atalanta.
Dumfries vs Bellanova: who would be a better fit
While Dumfries was regularly linked with Tottenham when Antonio Conte was at the helm, one does wonder whether the Dutchman would be capable of playing in Postecoglou’s system.
Although the 28-year-old has the engine to get up and down the pitch all day long, there is very little evidence to suggest that he has the technical ability to play as an inverted full-back.
However, Bellanova could arguably be better suited for that role and is the sort of age profile that Tottenham generally look at under Johan Lange and Postecoglou.
