Difficult selection

Not many players in world football would have as many options to choose from when picking a teammate’s five-a-side team, given the number of different clubs that Crouch represented in his career.

The striker not only played in excellent Spurs, Liverpool and Portsmouth sides but also shared the dressing room with England’s golden generation during his 42 international caps for the Three Lions.

Three Tottenham players on the list

Crouch spent just two years with the Spurs first-team from 2009 to 2011 (although he did come through the club’s academy) but three of his five selections are from that Tottenham side.

He named Ledley King, Luka Modric and Jermain Defoe in his side, along with former Liverpool teammates, Pepe Reina and Steven Gerrard.

Underrated Spurs side

While many fans would consider the Mauricio Pochettino side from 2015 to 2017 as the best Tottenham team of the Premier League era, the side Crouch was part of would undoubtedly push them close.

Spurs assembled an outstanding side under Harry Redknapp from 2010 to 2012 and many might be surprised by the fact that Crouch left out Gareth Bale and Rafael van der Vaart, both of whom he had excellent connections with on the pitch.
