Kulusevski a player reborn

Kulusevski did receive a fair bit of criticism last season for his inconsistency, with some even questioning whether he was the right profile of winger for Ange Postecoglou’s system.

Even last season, the Swede did impress in the few matches where he was used centrally and he has not looked back since being moved to the number eight role this year.

The 24-year-old has been a lot more influential in matches, with his creativity and running power in the middle of the park making Tottenham far more formidable both in and out of possession.

Kulusevski’s confession

Kulusevski’s best performance this season undoubtedly came in Spurs’ 3-0 win in Manchester, with the Tottenham star being absolutely unplayable on the day.

The former Juventus man created nine chances in that game, which was the most any opposition player has created in a single game at the Theatre of Dreams since the 2003/04 season (BBC Sport), and he has made a reference to that stat in his latest interview.

Speaking to AftonBladet about that game, Kulusevski said: “There was a record there that I broke. It was my plan all along to do it and I’m glad I did. When the team plays well, I play well. It was great fun to play in a legendary arena and I played exactly as I wanted.”

Diverse skill-set

Kulusevski is a complete player, not just possessing a fantastic engine but also being blessed with great technical quality and strength.

With the 24-year-old now adding some defensive awareness to his game, he has become an extremely valuable option for Postecoglou, being able to operate in midfield or anywhere in the attacking line.

On Friday, he lined up as one of two strikers for Sweden as Jon Dahl Tomasson chose to use a 3-5-2 formation.
