Spurs could bid over £30m for PL winger with three goals already this season

0

The January transfer window may be a couple of months away still, but Spurs are already looking at their next targets, and it looks like one impressive Premier League winger has caught their eye after a bright start to the season.

Tottenham could raid Bournemouth again

Spurs made a handful of smart additions to their squad in the summer, snapping up Archie Gray from Leeds United, Wilson Odobert from Burnley, and Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth.

Now, it looks like the Lilywhites may turn to Bournemouth once more as their interest in Antoine Semenyo ramps up after the Ghanaian winger’s latest performances have made him one of the standout stars of the new Premier League season so far.

According to Fichajes, Spurs are big fans of Semenyo and may be looking to lodge a €40m (£33.2m) bid for the 24-year-old in the near future. Whether that is in January or next summer is not known at this stage.

Semenyo has registered three goals and one assist in his six league games so far this term (Transfermarkt). He joined Bournemouth from Championship outfit Bristol City in January 2023 in a reported £10.5m deal.

Do Spurs need Semenyo?

At the start of the season, one would have said Spurs were already well-stocked in the right-wing department, with Dejan Kulusevski and Brennan Johnson fighting it out for that role.

However, as things have developed this season, Kulusevski looks far better suited to the more central role as an 8 or a 10. Johnson, meanwhile, is in red-hot form on the right and has four goals in four games.

So, with Kulusevski moving inside, there is certainly space in the squad for another winger, especially on the right.

Semenyo would thrive at Spurs

Semenyo fits our profile perfectly. He’s athletic, strong, never stops running, and can provide goals and assists in abundance. At 24-years-old, he’s got room to develop, too, and we all know how much Postecoglou likes that.

I would not be surprised to see this become a serious pursuit in the summer, but I wouldn’t hold your breath for any move like this in January.
