Tottenham find out date and time for Manchester City Carabao Cup clash
Like it or not, Spurs are playing Manchester City in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, and we now know exactly when the game will take place as details have been revealed.
A scary game just before Halloween for Spurs
After overcoming a tricky tie against Coventry City in the last round of the Carabao Cup with a late comeback courtesy of Djed Spence and Brennan Johnson, Spurs fans were hoping for a kind draw in the next round.
However, those hopes were dashed in typical Tottenham fashion when the draw put Spurs and Manchester City together once again.
Fans can now mark the upcoming fixture in their calendar, and rather fittingly, it falls just before Halloween and the impending spooky season later in October.
As per the club’s social media, the game will take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday, October 30. The fixture is scheduled for an 8:15 pm kick-off time.
Nothing to fear
While many fans viewed the draw as a negative and feared the worst, there are plenty of reasons to be hopeful ahead of the tie.
First of all, Pep Guardiola has admitted he regards the Carabao Cup as a waste of time and energy, and will be fielding a weakened team throughout the competition (ESPN).
If Spurs take the competition more seriously, they’ll have a good chance of punishing Guardiola for his disregard of the League Cup. The Lilywhites will feel especially confident given they are at home, in a stadium that Manchester City have historically struggled in.
Spurs win either way
In a recent feature, I claimed the fact we have drawn City in the Carabao Cup is a win-win situation for Spurs. We either win the game and knock out one of the strongest teams in the competition (and hopefully go all the way), or we crash out as many expect us to, and we focus on other, admittedly bigger priorities like the Europa League.
