0

One month is over and another begins, so it’s time to reflect on what we’ve just seen and pick out the best player, best young player, and best goal for September 2024. Find out the winners of the Spurs monthly awards right here.

It has been a month of two halves for Spurs in September, with defeats to Newcastle and Arsenal kicking things off, before the team put together a run of four wins in a row.

Ange Postecoglou‘s men have progressed in the Carabao Cup, got off to a winning start in the Europa League, and climbed the Premier League table.

But, which player has stood out the most? Which youngster has made an impression? And who registered our favourite goal in September 2024? The winners of our first Spurs monthly awards are ready to be announced.

Tottenham’s player of the month for September

Our winner of the Player of the Month award goes to Dejan Kulusevski, who made the successful transition from winger to central midfielder, and put in a complete performance in the win over Manchester United.

Dejan Kulusevski has worked his socks off all month in this more central role, and the industrious Swede has been far and away our best player in September. Which says a lot, because most of the team has been in fine form throughout that unbeaten run.

The highlight for Kulusevski is undoubtedly that starring role in the 3-0 win against United at the end of the month. The 24-year-old ran the show at Old Trafford, pressing high, battling for the ball, linking up with his teammates, and capping it all off with a wonderful goal.

Spurs goal of the month

Our pick for goal of the month in September goes to James Maddison, for his delicate chip against Brentford which wrapped up a lovely team move.

The beauty of this goal comes from the fact it involved four key moments from different Spurs players, and it all began at the edge of our own box.

Yves Bissouma put in a perfectly-timed tackle to break up a Brentford attack, the ball fell to Cristian Romero who carried it forward before playing an exquisite ball through the lines to find Heung-min Son. The Spurs skipper then threaded the ball through to James Maddison, who showed great composure to add Tottenham’s third goal and kill the game.

Young Player of the Month award

Archie Gray scoops our young player of the month award for September, after impressing in cameo roles off the bench, and putting in a mature performance in the Europa League on his full debut.

There were big expectations on Archie Gray‘s shoulders after making the big-money move to Spurs this summer, and he has not failed to deliver so far.

A number of brief yet assured performances in the Premier League have caught the eye already. But, it was his dominant 90-minute display in the 3-0 win over Qarabag that really set the standard for what he is capable of.

With Spurs going down to ten men, Gray and the rest of the defence had to stand firm, and the teenager handled everything that came his way, playing with composure and confidence beyond his years.
