Both sides desperate for points

Both Spurs and Man Utd are sitting on seven points after five Premier League games, which is not the start either Ange Postecoglou or Erik Ten Hag would have envisioned for their sides.

Both managers have come in for plenty of criticism already and they would know that if they do not manage to turn things around soon, they risk being left behind in the race for Champions League qualification.

Neville and Carragher predict result

Both Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher believe that United will get the better of Spurs on Sunday, with the former bullish about the Red Devils’ chances of winning the game.

When asked to predict the result, he said on Stick to Football: “I think Man United are winning that game. They struggle to score goals Man United, but I just think Sunday, it will be a good atmosphere and Tottenham is always a good game at Old Trafford. I will go 2-1 Man United.”

Carragher agreed, remarking: “2-1 Man United – when you start to say Man United played well away at Palace and they drew 0-0, it’s like ‘Oh my God’.

Neville then stated: “Shall we raise them and go 3-1? (after Roy Keane and Ian Wright predicted that result) I think we will get a third goal late on.” Carragher added: “Yeah, let’s go for it.”

Clear blueprint to beat Spurs?

After having watched what the likes of Newcastle United and Arsenal did against Tottenham, Ten Hag might feel that his side’s best chance of winning might be to allow Spurs to have the ball and hit them on the counter-attack.

Brentford tried to take the Lilywhites on at their own game last week and they got ripped apart by the North London side.

So it could well be a case of attack vs defence for the majority of the game on Sunday, with the clash potentially being decided by how clinical either set of forwards is in the final third.
