Postecoglou was pleased with one Spurs star’s performance against Arsenal
Ange Postecoglou is content with the display that Dominic Solanke delivered against Arsenal on his return from his injury.
It has been stop-start for Solanke at Spurs
Solanke’s start to life at Tottenham has not been as smooth as he would have wanted, with the striker having missed two games due to an ankle injury.
The 26-year-old came back into the starting eleven for the North London Derby, which was his first home game for the club, nearly a month after his debut at the King Power Stadium.
The centre-forward was feeding on scraps for most of the game even though the home side dominated possession, with Tottenham struggling to create too many chances of note.
Solanke did come close to scoring in the first half as his looping header had David Raya scrambling and went just inches wide off the post.
Postecoglou was happy with Solanke
When asked about what he thought about the performance of Tottenham’s record signing, Postecoglou told Football.London: “I thought Dom worked hard but, like I said, he hasn’t played for over a month, only his second game of the year.”
The Australian admitted that his side lacked conviction in the final third, insisting that they could have had a few goals if they had shown more belief.
He added: “I just thought there were a lot of odd times where, you know, if we just had a bit more belief and conviction in that front third we could have made so much more with our play to create really good opportunities.
“Even the ones we did, you know, we didn’t again, like I said, we lacked some real conviction in their execution to really make the most of them.”

I was quite impressed with the way Solanke used his body to shield the ball and his interplay with the other attackers.
Even though the striker is yet to score for Tottenham, he has shown already that he is a well-rounded number nine, which is a rare commodity these days.
