Former Spurs manager calls for fans to be patient with Postecoglou
Ex-Tottenham Hotspur boss, Tim Sherwood, has expressed his admiration for Ange Postecoglou and claims that Spurs fans must remain patient with the manager, although he admits the Australian must start getting results.
Postecoglou and Tottenham have struggled so far
Despite Ange Postecoglou’s successful track record in his second season with clubs, he has so far struggled to find the winning formula with Tottenham this season.
The Lilywhites have picked up just one win out of their first four games this season, making it Spurs’ worst start in nine years.
An agonising 1-0 loss to neighbours, Arsenal, has raised some eyebrows among fans and pundits who have been left bewildered at Tottenham’s poor performances as well as their ability to let teams score so easily from set-pieces.
Fabrizio Romano did confirm that despite his sluggish start with Tottenham this season, Postecoglou is in absolutely no danger of losing his job. The journalist added on The Debrief that Spurs are fully committed to the Australian’s project.
Sherwood urges Spurs fans to be patient with Postecoglou
Ex-Tottenham manager, Tim Sherwood, called for patience with Ange Postecoglou after Spurs’ derby loss, stating to Optus Sport:
“I wouldn’t put him under pressure, I love him. I think they should persevere with him but he needs the fans behind him.
“When he first came in they loved what they were seeing, it was such a contrast to previous managers. You don’t see a boring game with Tottenham anymore but you need to start winning games.
“You need a clinical edge, you need to start putting the goals in the back of the net”.
Spurs Web opinion
Sherwood’s opinion isn’t too far from the truth in my opinion. Ange Postecoglou not only has a track record of achieving things within two seasons but also has had moments and games of joy with Tottenham that suggest the manager can create a strong team that wins games more consistently than they currently do.
The fans may as well support the manager as, as Fabrizio Romano clarified, he isn’t going anywhere anytime soon and Arteta at Arsenal, Klopp at Liverpool and many others have proved time and patience can pay off when a club and a manager align in recruitment and vision.
