Report: Arsenal receive bad news on Odegaard injury timeframe ahead of Spurs clash

Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a huge boost ahead of the upcoming North London derby, after it was all but confirmed that one of Arsenal’s most important players will miss the game through injury.

Arsenal’s midfield woes

Arsenal are already going to be without Declan Rice after the midfielder picked up two yellow cards in the recent game against Brighton. The controversial sending-off will see the England man suspended for the trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.

Meanwhile, new signing Mikel Merino is thought to be ruled out for up to two months with injury. The Spaniard is yet to play for the Gunners since joining in the summer.

Now, reports claim Martin Odegaard will be injured for quite some time, and will almost certainly not be available for the North London derby this weekend.

The Norwegian star was injured on international duty this week, and while his twisted ankle is not thought to be too serious, he will still miss ‘at least three weeks’.

That’s according to Telegraph reporter Sam Dean, who shared an update based on what Norway’s national team doctor has said on the matter.

Dean tweeted: “Norway’s national team doctor has told VG Sporten that Martin Odegaard has ‘probably’ not suffered an ankle fracture. He says this type of ankle injury often takes ‘at least three weeks’ to heal.”

Spurs’ injury table is fairly clear

The Gunners may be struggling with injuries for the first time in years now, but Spurs are having more luck than last year so far.

As it stands, Richarlison and Yves Bissouma are doubts for the weekend, but Dominic Solanke and Micky van de Ven are expected to be fit.

Spurs Web Opinion

Arsenal have been so lucky with injuries over the last couple of seasons, so now they will realise what it’s like to deal with key players going missing for weeks at a time.

I’m sure we’ll see a Jorginho last-minute winner on Sunday though, because that’s just our luck.
