Video: Tottenham midfielder scores for second match in a row
The international break has been rather fruitful for Tottenham Hotspur players, with many of the squad not only securing wins but also bagging important goals for their countries. For one player, the break has been twice as nice, as he scored in consecutive matches.
Bissouma from outside the box, again
After a complicated start to the season — including a club-imposed suspension — Yves Bissouma has got himself right back on track and is now thriving for club and country.
The midfielder scored his first goal for Spurs in the 4-0 win over Everton, and appears to have regained the trust of his manager, Ange Postecoglou.
Now, he’s enjoying a successful international break with Mali in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
After scoring a wonderful goal from outside the box at the weekend in the draw against Mozambique, Bissouma has scored again.
Watch Yves Bissouma score for Mali
His Mali side defeated Eswatini 1-0 on Tuesday evening thanks to Bissouma’s goal in the seventh minute.
The Eswatini defence gave the ball away cheaply, and the Spurs man pounced on the loose pass before rifling a shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.
That takes Bissouma’s tally at international level to three goals in 37 games (Transfermarkt). He was captain for Mali in the recent fixtures, too.
Spurs Web Opinion
Another lovely goal for Bissouma, and it seems he is high on confidence at the moment for sure.
Hopefully, he can keep this good form up and bring that momentum back to Spurs with him. I’ve a feeling he will have a really good season.
