PSG, Man United, and Real Madrid all showed interest in Spurs star this summer – Journalist

Tottenham Hotspur navigated the summer transfer window superbly, particularly when it comes to offloading players they no longer needed. But, it sounds like they will face a tough task in keeping one of their star players next summer.

European giants circling for Cristian Romero

Cristian Romero continues to get better and better, it seems, but it is not just Tottenham fans who would agree with that statement.

The Argentina defender has put in a number of eye-catching displays over the last year or so, and according to Tyc Sports journalist, Gaston Edul, some of the biggest clubs in Europe have noticed.

Apparently, Spurs rebuffed the enquiries of three huge clubs this summer, but they will have to endure more interest next year.

Edul tweeted: “Cristian Romero had the interest of three teams in this transfer market: Manchester United, PSG, and Real Madrid. Tottenham responded that they would not sell him.

“He is essential for Postecoglou. They did not even put a price on him. He will have offers again in the next transfer market when Romero only has two years left on his contract.”

Can Spurs keep Romero?

Sky Sports reporter, Michael Bridge, believes Spurs could sit down and offer Romero a new contract, though. He told The Last Word on Spurs that a conversation could and should be had at some point this season to get the defender a new deal.

Meanwhile, Spurs insider, Paul O’Keefe claimed the club had scared Real Madrid off with a valuation of £150m for Romero (The Last Word on Spurs).

Romero himself spoke on the matter over the summer (via ESPN), playing down any talk of a move away and insisting he is focused entirely on winning trophies with Tottenham.

Spurs Web Opinion

Of all the players in our squad, I believe selling Romero would be the most catastrophic decision of all. He is our rock, he is the player we are building all our foundations on, and if he goes, we will take about five steps back in our progress and this project will collapse.
