Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has backed Barcelona to try and sign Sergio Reguilon before the transfer window slams shut.

Reguilon is destined for a Spurs exit

With just a week left in the transfer window, it is still unclear where Reguilon is going to end up, with the left-back’s time at Tottenham evidently coming to a close.

The Spaniard, who is not in Ange Postecoglou’s plans and has just one year left on his contract, is thought to be on Barca’s radar.

Monday’s print edition of Sport (via Sport Witness) claimed that the Catalan club’s boss Hansi Flick wants additional cover at left-back and has set his sights on the Tottenham man.

However, the report pointed out that there is some disagreement at the La Liga giants over a move for Reguilon, with the club’s sporting director, Deco, not seeing a left-back as a priority position.

Barcelona backed to go for Sergio Reguilon

Sheth believes that Barca will test the waters to see if they can sign the Real Madrid academy graduate on a discount.

When asked if he can see Reguilon completing a late switch to Camp Nou, the journalist told Last Word on Spurs podcast: “Yeah, potentially. I mean, whenever I hear that Barcelona are in for a player it’s always with a pinch of salt.

“With regards to Reguilon, they will try to do a deal on their terms rather than on Tottenham’s terms.

“Tottenham want to make a sale, that is 100% the case. Can Barcelona purchase him? We know he won’t cost that much, Barcelona will be well aware that he is a player Tottenham want to sell.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I would be surprised if Reguilon agrees to join Barca as one would have thought that the left-back’s priority would be to get regular game time.

However, at this stage of the window, the Tottenham man might not have too many options.
