Cook County deputy shoots man stabbing woman in unincorporated Lyons
A Cook County sheriff's deputy shot a man who was stabbing a woman and is suspected of stabbing another in unincorporated Lyons Township on Monday afternoon, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office said.
A deputy responded to a domestic violence call in the 6400 block of Joliet Road at 5:30 p.m., and found a man holding a bleeding woman at knifepoint while another woman was unresponsive and bleeding on the floor, police said. He began stabbing the woman again, and the officer shot him once.
Both women and the man were taken to local hospitals, authorities said. Their conditions were not known.
The Illinois State Police Public Integrity Task Force is conducting an investigation into the shooting because an officer was involved. An investigation into the incident prior to the shooting is also ongoing.
