Six people shot, one killed in Austin mass shooting
Six people were shot, one fatally, in an Austin mass shooting early Sunday, Chicago police said.
Officers responded to a call about a large gathering and found multiple people shot in the 100 block of North Lacrosse Avenue around 2:45 a.m.
A 22-year-old woman shot multiple times in the back was pronounced dead after she was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital.
According to police, three people are in critical condition: a 17-year-old boy shot in the thigh who was taken to Mount Sinai, a 29-year-old man shot in the leg who was taken to Loretto Hospital, and an 18-year-old man shot in the chest and arm who was taken to Stroger Hospital.
A 29-year-old woman shot in the elbow was taken to Rush University Medical Center in good condition. An 18-year-old man, grazed by a bullet on his hand, was treated and released at the scene.
No further details were available Sunday morning. No one is in custody, police said.
