Man dies after running red light, crashing into vehicle in Dunning

A man died after he ran a red light and crashed into another car in the Dunning neighborhood on the Northwest Side early Friday morning, according to Chicago police.

The man, whose age wasn’t known, was driving westbound on West Belmont Avenue near the 3200 block of North Cumberland Avenue at 2:10 a.m. when he drove through a red light and hit a blue SUV driving north on Cumberland, police said. The man was taken to Loyola University Medical Center, where he later died.

The other driver, a 30-year-old man, turned down medical attention at the scene, police said.

No citations were issued and the crash remains under investigation.
