Revisiting the earliest photos of St Andrews
There is a very early photo Probably 1906) taken from the Kop-Tilton corner and another taken from the Railway-Kop corner which says 'Opened boxing day Dec 26th 1906. Almost certainly 1906. There is another 3 months later when Arsenal played Sheffield Wednesday. Now I think the 2 earlier photo's are taken BEFORE the opening and perhaps November or December.
Evidence: no snow which nearly cancelled opening game; clock and gable missing; lots of scaffolding below where clock will be; sides of stand are open yet largely blocked by the Arsenal game; no ad hoardings but clearly metal bars in place ready for this advertising. The boxing day picture suggests building work still going on to left and a fan support is missing.
Thoughts on this would be helpful.
