All the big new games coming out in September — Xbox, PlayStation, PC and Nintendo Switch
Though August was by no means a sleepy month for new launches, September is generally regarded as the first big month in video gaming’s push to the traditional blockbuster flood in time for holiday shopping.
This September, PC, PlayStation, Nintendo and Xbox owners will find two mainstays of sports video gaming; a quirky Harry Potter spinoff, itself born of sport themes; the unrelenting action of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 and a remastered Dead Rising; and the first premium expansion for Starfield, the Bethesda Game Studios role-playing epic that launched one year ago this month.
Here is your major video games release calendar for September:
Sept. 2
- Sumerian Six (Windows PC)
Sept. 3
- The Casting of Frank Stone (PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox Series X)
- Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X)
- Prison Architect 2 (PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox Series X)
Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions will be the first video game representation of the Wizarding World’s most popular sport in more than 20 years. PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers get it free the same day.
Sept. 4
- Age of Mythology: Retold (Xbox Series X, Windows PC)
Sept. 6
- Ace Attorney Investigations Collection (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Xbox One)

Astro Bot is the first title dedicated to the up-and-coming PlayStation mascot, who began his career with a PlayStation VR tutorial (Astro Bot Rescue Mission) and then Astro’s Playroom, a tutorial for the DualSense 5 gamepad. He’ll be joined by several of his PlayStation friends — “VIP Bots” — in the puzzle platformer’s lineup.
Sept. 9
- Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 (PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox Series X)

Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics only had its release date formalized recently. It’s an anthology of six super-hero fighting games, including Marvel vs. Capcom, its sequel, X-Men vs. Street Fighter, and the side-scrolling beat-em-up The Punisher. All seven games were big in 1990s coin-op arcades.
Sept. 13

- Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster (PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox Series X)
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster revisits Capcom’s 2006 original, updating its visuals and performance for modern consoles. Hard to believe it was nearly 20 years ago this first launched, making good not just on a new IP for Capcom but opening up the zombie survival craze that still dominates video gaming’s action/adventure segment.

- Greedfall 2: The Dying World (Windows PC)
Sept. 26
- Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5)
- The Legend of Zelda – Echoes of Wisdom (Nintendo Switch)
Though visually this is presented in the style of 2019’s remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, don’t sleep on the all-new Echoes of Wisdom, a major launch for the franchise that at long last makes Princess Zelda herself the playable protagonist. The tables are turned as now it’s up to her to rescue Link from his imprisonment by evil forces.
Sept. 27
- EA Sports FC 25 (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X)
EA Sports FC 25 continues the cornerstone sports title’s refinement and iteration, this time plunging into something called FC IQ which expands soccer/football’s tactical dimension across all modes of play. A new 4-on-4 mode (well, five if you count the bot goalkeeper) also debuts; it’s been compared to Rocket League for its dive-on-the-ball starts and fast-paced action.
Sept. 29
- Reynatis (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC)
Sept. 30
- Starfield: Shattered Space (DLC expansion, Windows PC, Xbox Series X)
