Defender Zak Jules Joins Rotherham United

Rotherham United has secured the services of defender Zak Jules, making him Steve Evans’ eighth summer signing. The 27-year-old left-footed centre back arrives on a two-year deal, subject to EFL and FA ratification.

Background and Career

Reading Academy: Jules began his professional journey in the Reading Academy system. Over the years, he has represented clubs such as Shrewsbury Town, Macclesfield Town, Walsall, and MK Dons, accumulating nearly 200 professional appearances across the EFL, National League, and Scottish Premiership. Most recently, Jules was a mainstay in Exeter City’s defence, featuring in 88 appearances over the last two campaigns.

Jules’s contract at Exeter City expired, and despite being offered a new contract he was given the opportunity to explore other options. This he did, to the disappointment of Exeter City fans.

What to Expect

Consistency: With 47 appearances in the 2023/24 season, Jules brings reliability and defensive prowess to Rotherham. International Recognition: He has also earned international recognition with Scotland up to U21 level. The 6ft 2in defender isn’t great on aerial duels but is good in the tackle and can move forward with pace. He scored just the one goal for Exeter City, a fine shot away at Reading on News Years Day.
