During the EWC Last Chance Qualifier playoff, Hans Niemann was in a commanding position against Anish Giri but lost on time. In a moment of visible frustration, Niemann slammed the table, echoing Magnus Carlsen’s past displays of emotion.
As Gukesh said, “It’s not only about the moves; some people get attracted to the emotions […] I’ve also banged a lot of tables in my career.”
