The game was a roller coaster, where Divya Deshmukh started nicely by leaving little maneuvering space to her opponent and preventing the coordination of pieces in the black camp. However, a few passive moves brought the position to equal, with the danger of Tan’s bishops gaining more space looming. Deshmukh position deteriorated in the middlegame, but Tan missed 32…Rg4 and followed it up by series of blunders in time trouble. Divya Deshmukh won the game and is the first finalist of the Women’s World Cup and is confirmed participant of Candidates 2026.
