The Women’s World Cup has reached its semifinal stage. Lei Tingjie vs Humpy Koneru and Tan Zhongyi vs Divya Deshmukh will determine who goes on to the final and continues the race for the title of the most important knockout event in the calendar.
Lei Tingjie has had a marvelous tournament so far, scoring 7,5/8 and taking the second position in the rating list. She defeated Francisco Guecamburu, Stefanova, Omonova, and Dzagnidze along the way. Humpy Koneru had more difficult time in Baku – after defeating Khamdamova and Kulon at the start of the event, she had to go through tiebreaks with Kosteniuk.
