It Wasn't iShowSpeed First To Wear New Lions Jersey Before Launch

You must have seen the new Singapore home jersey everywhere by now, especially since the Football Association Singapore (FAS) first unveiled it on their social media in late August.

The jersey garnered even more attention when popular streamer iShowSpeed wore a seemingly identical version during a recent stroll around town, showcasing it to his massive subscriber base of 32 million.

COLLABORATION WITH "SPEED" BEFORE LAUNCH: FAS 

In response to queries from this platform, a FAS spokesperson confirmed that it was indeed the same jersey, stating, "We worked with iShowSpeed's team and our partners, Weston, to do just that - to leverage his reach to draw attention to the new kit and generate buzz ahead of Friday’s event (29/9 - the day of the official unveiling)," when asked whether there was any collaboration involving the 19-year-old internet personality wearing the jersey before its official launch.

The spokesperson also noted that American, also known as "Speed" to his followers, was not the first person to wear the kit prior to the launch. "… that honour belongs to our fans who very kindly worked with us to be a part of our launch – they participated in our photo and video shoot that formed the foundation for the launch," the spokesperson added in an email reply.

Being one of the first to put on the new jersey, football fan Alvin Tan was one of those lucky ones who were involved in the above-mentioned photo and video promotional shoot.

“It’s unreal that I was able to put on the jersey before any of the players. It’s always a great feeling to put on a Singapore shirt as it fills me with a sense of pride." he added.
