Phillies place ace Zach Wheeler (blood clot) on IL

The Philadelphia Phillies placed three-time All-Star pitcher Zach Wheeler on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a blood clot located near his right shoulder.

The news came from Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski less than 24 hours after Wheeler allowed two runs on four hits over five innings in Friday's 6-2 win over the Nationals.
