Aston Villa FPL winners and losers from Gameweek 10: a slow week for Villa adherents

0

It’s all happening in our Aston Villa FPL league as we coast serenely through the quarter mark of the Premier League season.

Villa fell to a 2-0 defeat against Liverpool at Anfield last Saturday night but as a new Fantasy Premier League gameweek begins, it’s all to play for.

After a few weeks of Villa players starting to hoover up a few points here and there, there wasn’t much to shout about in Gameweek 10 unless you happen to have dragged yourself into the top quarter of a million players for the week like someone I could mention but won’t. Yet.

Let’s check in with last week’s scores.

Top Aston Villa FPL scorers in GW10

It was a big old nasty blank for everyone associated with Villa, as you’d expect after a 2-0 defeat. Only Ollie Watkins and Boubacar Kamara managed to gather as many as two points in FPL GW10.

Not great.

13 of their teammates featured against Liverpool and added a single point to their season totals but there was a perfect blank for right-back Matty Cash, who still sits atop the Villa rankings with 46 points and is now selected by 5.3% of FPL players.

Ezri Konsa is the most selected Villa player (8.4% teams) followed by Watkins (6.5%) and Cash (5.3%). After last week’s exploits, you can expect all of those percentages to drop this weekend in the last gameweek before the international break.

AVF FPL update GW10

There’s no change at the top of our AVF FPL league, where the top three is intact. Gary James (73 round points) has a big advantage over Warren Torch (83) in second and Abdelrhman Gooda (77) in third.

James Brownrigg and John Mortimer are still our bottom two but there’s a big move up to 70th for Julius Makiwa, who claimed 78 points thanks to captain Erling Haaland, Declan Rice, João Pedro and solid points throughout the team in what was a low-scoring week overall.

Overall but not uniformly. The top scorer in the league this week with 92 points thanks to a semi-wasted bench boost and big hauls from Haaland, Pedro, Moisés Caicedo, Gabriel and Marc Guéhi is… me.

That puts me into the top 40. After the start I had, you’ve got to respect it.
