How to watch Feyenoord v Aston Villa: kick-off time, TV channels and streams

0

This week’s Europa League fixture takes Aston Villa back to the site of the greatest triumph in their 150-year history.

Villa won the European Cup in 1982, beating a feared Bayern Munich team 1-0 thanks to Peter Withe’s shin and a magnificent performance off the substitutes’ bench by a young Nigel Spink.

That famous final was played in Rotterdam at De Kuip, the home of Feyenoord, and Unai Emery will take his team back there for Thursday night’s game looking to draw on the inspiration of Villa’s biggest-ever success.

The league phase began with Villa’s first home goal and first win of the 2025/26 season in any competition. Having followed the Bologna match with a Premier League victory against Fulham on Sunday, Villa head into their second Europa League game with renewed vigour and, finally, some confidence to go with it.

John McGinn‘s terrific strike early in the game against Bologna gave Villa a foothold from which they gradually improved on a slightly nervous start, getting them on the board in the league phase at the first time of asking.

If they can match that 1-0 scoreline in Rotterdam, Emery can be confident that his top-eight target is well within reach.

There aren’t any obviously easy fixtures on the schedule for Villa in the Europa League but Feyenoord away certainly ranks among the toughest.

Feyenoord are unbeaten in the Eredivisie this season, winning six of their first seven games, but Robin van Persie’s side were defeated away from home by Braga in their first league phase fixture in the Europa League last week.

They haven’t conceded a goal at De Kuip since their Champions League qualification home leg against Fenerbahce, a match they won in a tie they ultimately lost.

What time does Feyenoord v Villa kick off?

The Europa League fixtures are usually 8.00pm kick-offs but some, as in previous seasons in the Conference League and Champions League, start at 5.45pm UK time.

All of Villa’s league phase matches will be played on Thursday evenings.

Fulham v Villa will kick off at 8.00pm on Thursday 2nd October.
