Aston Villa team news as Unai Emery makes SIX changes for Premier League fixture against Fulham
Unai Emery has named his starting line-up and substitutes for today’s Premier League meeting between Aston Villa and Fulham and has changed more than half of the starting eleven from Thursday’s win.
Villa collected their first win of the season by beating Bologna in the Europa League on Thursday but are still waiting for their first Premier League victory of 2025/26.
Emery has kept faith with struggling attacking midfielder Morgan Rogers and restored Ollie Watkins to the side, while Lamare Bogarde steps into midfield in place of Boubacar Kamara who drops to the bench along with Donyell Malen.
Tyrone Mings and Lucas Digne come back in on the left side of Villa’s back four in front of goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez, who reclaims his spot after a fitness test. Pau Torres, Ian Maatsen and Marco Bizot come out of the side.
Harvey Elliott gets his first home start
Emery is sticking with Rogers and Evann Guessand against Fulham but has made a significant change to his attacking line-up, bringing new signing Harvey Elliott in for a first start at Villa Park.
Emi Buendía makes way for the England Under-21 international, who has played just 51 minutes for Villa in the Premier League this season.
Villa’s lack of thrust and creativity has given Emery a problem and it’s great to see that the manager does indeed see Elliott as part of a possible solution.
Elliott, signed on an initial loan from Liverpool on transfer deadline day, scored Villa’s first goal of the season thanks to a big slice of good fortune against Brentford in the Carabao Cup.
