That was the kind of night we’d have liked to write off as a bad day at the office. In every normal sense, that’s what it was. But the wider context of the season suggests something rooted much more deeply and Villa remain winless domestically almost a month later.
Ever more urgent calls for Villa to kickstart their season have gone unfulfilled so far. Sunday is yet another opportunity for Unai Emery and his players to put all the distractions and negativity behind them, get out on the pitch in front of the home fans and give the club – and the rest of us – a boost we all sorely need.
What time does Villa v Fulham kick off?
This Premier League fixture, originally scheduled for Saturday, is the first Villa game of the season to be moved to the early Sunday slot as a result of the team’s participation in the Europa League.
Fulham v Villa will kick off at 2.00pm on Sunday 28th September.

Sky Sports now has the rights to show all Sunday afternoon kick-offs in the Premier League no matter how many early games there are. As it happens, Villa’s is the only one this week anyway.
