Irresistible Aston Villa bargain buys for FPL 2025/26

The new Premier League season is just nine days away and the league’s official fantasy football behemoth is right there with it.

FPL 2025/26 is sure to be as thrilling as ever and we’re running a couple of leagues to add a little sprinkle of spice to the new campaign. We’ve even made some suggestions for players who want to go full rogue vindaloo and do things their own way.

As the season looms large on the horizon, there are some bargain buys to be had within Villa’s squad. With that in mind, here are some pointers for FPL players making their GW1 decisions.

Cheap as chips

Ezri Konsa

Villa’s only guaranteed starter in just about any defensive consideration, Konsa’s £4.5m price is one to take notice of at the start of the season. FPL scoring is paying more attention to defensive contributions from this season and Konsa already broke 100 points last term.

Morgan Rogers

At a cost of £7.0m, Rogers is a no-brainer in midfield. He racked up 161 points in 2024/25 and continues to get better and more effective as he matures. With Villa’s first major signing of the season expected to be a right-sided option, Rogers is expected to move back to his preferred central position. Let the points flow!

Potential differentials

Donyell Malen

Spending £5.5m to have Malen in a midfield position could be the best bargain buy in the game. His meagre points return last season hides the fact that he will play much, much more in 2025/26 and is expected to be leaned upon as an important player for Villa as both a right-sided wide forward and an understudy striker.

Lamare Bogarde

If you’re looking for defenders to come off your bench and make a contribution, Bogarde at £4.0m is one to consider. Listed as a defender, he could also feature in midfield at times this season and has been used in a variety of defensive spots in pre-season. Expect his minutes to increase in 2025/26, and for his price to jump when they do.

Players worth a punt

Ollie Watkins

Villa and England striker Watkins isn’t exactly an unknown quantity but there are a few factors to consider when picking forwards. He’s had a full pre-season, unlike last year, and is 25 goals away from a Premier League ton and could be on for a 200-point season. He’s a £9.0m pick-up in FPL, which compares rather favourably against £14.0m for Erling Haaland and even £10.5m for Alexander Isak, given his circumstances.

Evann Guessand

Guessand isn’t in the game yet but his transfer to Villa Park is imminent and I’m betting even the clever folk behind FPL pricing won’t have the measure of him. There’s no guarantee with newcomers but I think he’ll play a lot of games and has the potential to make a flying start before his price goes up.
