Aston Villa Women handed BRUTAL start as Women’s Super League fixtures revealed

0

The Women’s Super League fixtures have been announced for the 2025/26 season and Aston Villa Women couldn’t have asked for a tougher start.

Villa learned the order of their 22 WSL fixtures this morning and will need to be raring to go from the very start of the season thanks to a brutal September schedule.

Natalia Arroyo‘s Villans get underway on Sunday 7th September, when they visit Crawley to take on Brighton & Hove Albion in an opening fixture against the team that finished fifth last season. It’s a 12.00pm kick-off and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.

The first home game brings serial WSL winners Chelsea to Villa Park on Sunday 14th September before another home game – also at Villa Park – against Liverpool on Sunday 21st September, when the men’s team will be in Premier League action away at Sunderland.

Liverpool finished level on points with Villa last season and will be looking to improve under an as-yet unconfirmed new manager after the departure of Matt Beard earlier this year.

Villa will conclude the first month of the season with a trip to London, where they’ll face Champions League winners Arsenal in a lunchtime kick-off at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday 27th September.

The return fixture against league champions Chelsea is currently scheduled for Kingsmeadow on Sunday 29th March. Villa will play both Manchester United and Manchester City away in the first half of the season and at home after the turn of the year.

Villa will continue to play their home league matches at Villa Park.

The first weekend of the WSL season coincides with an international break in the men’s game and every match of the season will be available to watch live through the WSL’s broadcasters, Sky Sports and the BBC, as part of a five-year deal that begins this season.

“It is Sky Sports’ intention to select a majority of its BWSL matches for a midday kick-off on Sunday with Sky Sports showing matches concurrently across its channels, including games featuring on Sky Sports Main Event, Sky Sports+, and all available to access via the Sky Sports mobile app,” according to the WSL.

We’ll be providing Aston Villa Women coverage here on AVF throughout the season.

Ending the WSL season in style

The final months of the season promise to be full of thrills and spills, starting with back-to-back away fixtures against Leicester City and Chelsea at the end of March.

Villa’s last two home fixtures are a mouth-watering visit from Arsenal and what could prove a vital game at Villa Park against West Ham United.

Arroyo’s team will close out 2025/26 with a trip to Women’s Super League newcomers London Lionesses, who play their home fixtures at League Two Bromley’s Copperjax Community Stadium.

Villa’s full fixture list is available on the official club website.
