ArmInfo. The political field of Armenia is facing a choice to which the current authorities have nothing to do. This was written on his Facebook page by a member of the Alternative Projects group, Vahe Hovhannisyan.
"The essence of this choice is as follows: to fight for power or the opposition in the upcoming elections? In the first case, we can talk about elections with a different attitude, with firm determination, with a real assessment of their own capabilities, and in the second - a fight for the comfort of the opposition, which is an exclusively personal motivation," the expert noted.
According to him, the Armenian authorities, naturally, have their own calculations, and the competitive picture after 2021 is in their favor. The authorities understand that they do not have the same number of votes (680 thousand), but they also understand that the rest do not have the figures that they recorded during the previous parliamentary elections. The same competitive field with proportional or even disproportionate losses will allow the authorities to reproduce themselves.
Hovhannisyan noted that the authorities are openly going to the elections. "We need new forces, new alliances and new ideas to defeat them through snap or regular elections and carry out a deep reset in the country. It is not a question of love or dislike, and I must emphasize that this is not a question of the present and the past, the participants in the 2021 elections also have the right to participate in the upcoming elections and even succeed. Another thing is that this should be done in the right formats and with the right words. I am sure that it is more than possible to win and form a new government in the upcoming elections, whether regular or snap. But this must be done if new forces appear, even if at the moment they seem incredible, if only for the simple reason that the realities of today and 2021 are completely different," the expert emphasized.
To put it simply, he continued, the authorities will go to the elections solely to retain power, but they have nothing to offer Armenia. "If we can form a collective force that will go to the elections to come to power and offer Armenia something new, we will succeed. And if the problem is to end up in the parliamentary opposition again, then this is a service of private interest, and the architects and participants of the opposition forces must accept it honestly from the very beginning. The Armenian voter is ready to leave home and go to the polling station if he sees that there is an alternative and an opportunity to change the government," the expert concluded.
