Shoigu: West hindering improvement of situation in South Caucasus
ArmInfo. There are prerequisites for improving the situation in the South Caucasus, but Western countries are preventing it, by prioritizing their own interests. This was stated by Sergey Shoigu Secretary, the Security Council of the Russian Federation, at the 12th meeting of the secretaries of the CIS Security Councils on November 7.
"As for regional security in the South Caucasus. The situation remains challenging, but there are prerequisites for improvement. External actors, primarily Western countries, are pursuing unseemly goals, to put it mildly," Shoigu said, as reported by Interfax. "This only confirms the thesis that regional problems require regional solutions," he said. Note that the annual 12th meeting of the secretaries of the CIS Security Councils is taking place today in Moscow chaired by Sergey Shoigu, the Secretary of the Russian Security Council. Armenia is represented at the meeting by Gurgen Arsenyan, the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Russia. -0-
