Oppositionist: There are no Armenian-Azerbaijani peace talks, there is a process of satisfying the unilateral demands of Azerbaijan and Turkey
ArmInfo. There are no peace talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan; instead there is a process of satisfying the unilateral demands of Azerbaijan and Turkey by the Armenian authorities.
This is how Kristine Vardanyan, a member of the Armenian parliament from the opposition faction "Armenia", commented on today's statement made by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan regarding Armenian-Turkish normalization. Note that today Fidan stated that relations between Turkey and Armenia will be normalized only after the signing of the treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan. "Ankara considers the achievement of peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia as an important element in ensuring stability in the South Caucasus," the Turkish minister added.
Vardanyan pointed out that another threat, which the opposition has been consistently discussing, was confirmed today by the head of the Turkish Foreign Ministry. The MP noted that with this statement, Fidan actually reaffirmed that Armenian-Turkish negotiations are underway with preliminary conditions, which, as time has shown, have proven acceptable to those who represent Armenia today. "As a member of parliament familiar with the draft agreement under discussion with Azerbaijan, I feel it important to remind that there is no peace agreement or negotiation process. There is a process of unilaterally satisfying the demands of Azerbaijan and Turkey. Those who argue otherwise should be able to answer a simple question: what concessions is Azerbaijan making?" the MP asked.
Additionally, she emphasized that the inclusion of the word "peace" in the title of this agreement was solely meant to mislead the Armenian people and enhance the international image of Ilham Aliyev.
