Source: Ankara to support signing of peace treaty between Baku and  Yerevan at 3+3 platform meeting in Istanbul

ArmInfo.Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will emphasize Ankara's support for the process of signing a peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan at the 3+3 regional platform meeting in Istanbul. RIA Novosti reports this with reference to a diplomatic source in the Turkish capital.  

" In his speech, Minister Fidan is expected to announce that Ankara's efforts are aimed at establishing peace and stability in the Caucasus. The emphasis is expected to  be placed on the fact that regional responsibility is the most effective way of solving problems. The minister will emphasize that Turkey supports the process, parallel to which the process of normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia is going on," the agency's interlocutor said.

According to the diplomatic source, the participants of a meeting will adopt a joint statement, emphasizing the need for peaceful settlement of conflicts. "At the end of the meeting, the participating countries plan to adopt a joint statement. The text of the statement will emphasize the need to resolve problems between the countries of the region through dialogue, based on the principles enshrined in the UN Charter," the agency's source informed.

According to the source, in the text of the statement, it is planned to emphasize the need for regional economic cooperation, strengthening of trust, and improving  well-being.  Note that the heads of the Foreign Ministries of Armenia and Russia have already confirmed their participation in the meeting.
