Ushakov said there were no signals from Trump's team on talks with Putin

The Kremlin has not received any reports from the administration of US President-elect Donald Trump on the imminent talks between Russia and the United States. This was reported by Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov in a conversation with VGTRK journalist Pavel Zarubin on January 16.

According to Ushakov, the Kremlin is waiting for Trump's team to take their positions and start work.

"I would not want to give the impression that Moscow is sitting here waiting for a phone call to come from Washington," Ushakov emphasized.

He noted that so far there are no contacts with the U.S. administration to organize a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Trump. However, according to Ushakov, when signals from Trump arrive, Russia will be ready to receive them.

Earlier, on January 13, Trump said that he wants to meet with the Russian leader as soon as possible. He indicated that earlier contacts had not taken place because such talks are worth having in the status of the president who officially took office.

At the same time, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that many countries are ready to become platforms for a meeting between Putin and Trump. Nevertheless, there are no substantive preparations for the talks yet, so it is premature to talk about the choice of venue.

Michael Waltz, the US president-elect's national security adviser, said on January 12 that Trump was preparing to hold talks with the Russian leader.

Trump announcedon January 9 that he waspreparing to meet with the Russian president. The American leader-elect added that he plans to hold all meetings after the inauguration, scheduled for January 20. In turn, Peskov said on January 10 that Russia does not have certain conditions for negotiations with the United States.
