Chad's ambassador says Russians detained in the country will be released soon
Russians detained in the Republic of Chad, including sociologist Maxim Shugaley, will soon be released and handed over to the Russian authorities. This was announced by the republic's ambassador to Russia Adam Beshir on September 24.
"They will be released and handed over to the Russian authorities," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying .
The diplomat also noted that a total of four people were detained.
Chadian authorities detained three Russians and one citizen of Belarus, including Russian sociologists Maxim Shugaley and Samer Soueifan, on September 19 and 21.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation reported that the necessary steps have been taken for the speedy release of all detainees. To this end, the Russian side is in close contact with the authorities in N'Djamena and the Chadian ambassador in Moscow.
