A bill to ban the childfree movement in Russia will be introduced in the State Duma on September 24
The bill to ban the Childfree movement will be submitted to the State Duma on Tuesday. This was reported on September 24 "RIA Novosti" by deputy Sultan Khamzaev.
"More specifically - on the refusal of childbearing. Today the bill is conceptually supported by the government," he said.
Khamzaev noted that this initiative is related to the prevalence of materials on the Internet that promote the refusal to give birth to children, as well as show disrespect for the family, mothers and fathers. In accordance with this it is proposed to create a mechanism to protect traditional family values by amending the law "On Information, Information Technologies and Information Protection".
Before that, the government recommended to clarify the concept of "refusal of childbearing" in order to avoid unjustified attribution of situations with refusal to give birth to children for religious, medical reasons or in case of rape to propaganda.
Earlier, on September 23, the Russian government supported the ban on propaganda of the ideology of Childfree. The material also notes that before making changes to the administrative code requires clarification of the criteria for the concept of "refusal of childbearing".
The ban on the ideology of Childfree began to be considered by the Russian Government back in 2022. Thus, on September 7, deputies of the State Duma introduced a bill that prohibits the initiation of children and teenagers under the age of 18 in the ideology of childlessness. This year, the topic has regained popularity, and on June 27, Deputy Justice Minister Vsevolod Vukolov said that the movement wants to ban it altogether in the country.
On the same day, Duma deputy Yana Lantratova said that this ideology is selfish and destructive, while a strong family should be the basis of a strong country. She also recalled that Russia is a social state and the authorities constantly talk about the importance of demographic development.
