From January to June 2024, 51 cases of poisoning by poisonous mushrooms were recorded in Russia, the press service of Rospotrebnadzor reported to Izvestia. The agency noted that the most such poisonings were registered in Bashkortostan, Altai Krai, Orenburg and Tambov regions.

In total, no less than 114 cases of poisoning by mushrooms, both poisonous and improperly cooked or canned, have been recorded over six months, Izvestia has found out, having analyzed the reports of regional ministries of health, health departments and Rospotrebnadzor offices.

Among these cases there are three fatal ones - one each in Udmurtia, Saratov and Sverdlovsk regions, official reports show.

According to Roslesinforg, the most common poisonous mushrooms in Russia are mice, pale grebes and red fly agaric. Rospotrebnadzor noted that the pale grebe is often confused with mushrooms when collecting, false opiates - with real ones.

Doctor-gastroenterologist laboratory "Hemotest" Ekaterina Kashukh noted that the first symptoms of mushroom poisoning can vary depending on the type of poison contained in them, but there are common signs that should alert. These include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, sharp abdominal pain, headache, dizziness and confusion, she said.

"Symptoms can appear both in a few hours and a few days after the consumption of mushrooms," - emphasized the expert.

In case of indisposition it is necessary to call an ambulance, and not to engage in self-medication, summarized Ekaterina Kashukh.
