Armenia’s jewelry output doubled in 2016
YEREVAN, February 2. /ARKA/. Armenia’s jewelry output by value doubled in 2016, compared with the previous year, to more than AMD 36.3 billion, the National Statistical Service of Armenia reports.
However, by volume, it shrank 21.1% to 781.2 kilograms in 2016 from 990.1 kilograms in 2015.
According to the statistical report, diamond industry’s output grew 54.2% to 125,431 karats from 81,346 karats in 2015.
The country exported precious and semiprecious stones and precious metals and jewelry made of them worth $337.3 million in 2016 (73.9% year-on-year growth) and the same kinds of imports totaled $161.5 million (36.8% growth). --0---
