Members of the US House of Representatives reelected Speaker Paul D. Ryan in a party-line vote Tuesday that was free of any public displays of rancor that has dogged past leaders, The Los Angeles Times reported. With 239 votes, Ryan easily won reelection, a reflection of the work he’s done to shore up support among both colleagues and the entire united GOP, the report said. The party now controls the House and Senate – and soon The White House when President-elect Donald Trump assumes office at noon in 17 days.
