Ameriabank installs IBNS to prevent theft of banknotes from its cash machines
YEREVAN, December 27. /ARKA/. The Yerevan-based Ameriabank said today it has taken security measures to protect its ATMs from physical damage, saying if such an attempt is made nonetheless, the banknotes in the ATM will be painted with indelible ink.
The measures are part of the so-called intelligent banknote neutralization system (IBNS), designed to prevent the theft of banknotes through physical damage. The IBNS is considered to be one of the most efficient systems currently in use globally.
Ameriabank said in the first place specific measures are now underway in those Ameriabank ATMs, which are situated in the most at-risk areas, while all the other cash machines, regardless of location, will be equipped with the systems in the second stage of the program.
Ameriabank warned that due to the installation process, some of the ATMs may stop working for a short period of time.
